A cool old talk from when you were 1 -From Mom
Hey William,
The YW went to the provo temple to do baptisms today. It surprised me a bit when we drove up, all the memories that came back from the day we dropped you off at the MTC. It was also really fun to see all the missionaries there and think of all the people whose lives they will be blessing as they go out into the world to serve.
It's crazy to think that temple will probably not look the same for you again. They are closing it soon to tear it down and rebuild it. Kind of sad that it will be a totally different design. But I guess that is just the way they decided to do it. The fall leaves were so pretty at the temple today. It was awesome.
Dad took Cohen to the BYU game tonight. It's super cold and I hope they are staying warm. It's a late game, so Cohen gets to stay up super late, probably till almost 1 by the time they get home.
We did some more yard stuff today. One of the videos in this photo album is Cohen stomping down the compost pile. I thought you would like that.
They got Bonnie's horse out to the cemetery already. I think it looks pretty great, and I'm sure it made her and Orval happy to have it there.
They had a Rube Goldberg exhibit at Thanksgiving point, it was pretty fun. cohen just loves that kind of stuff.
Jordan sent us a link to watch the space shuttle launch with the instrument that Jordan got to help design. Melissa and Jordan were going to fly out to Florida to watch the launch, but they ended up changing the date, so they had to cancel their flight. It was kind of sad they didn't get to be there, but we all got to watch it online. It was super cool to watch.
The screenshots with Grandpa are from when we called him for his birthday. Cohen was making faces at him, so he started making them back. He's the best.
Kind of a lot of random stuff this week, but it was a good week.
I kind of love finding old talks for you that I don't remember hearing. I'm sure I heard this one, but I don't remember it. I thought it was a great missionary talk. Hopefully you love it too.
I've been studying President Nelson's talk "think celestial" this week along with Elder Soares's talk. I feel like I need to study President Nelson's talk for a lot longer. There is so much great stuff in that talk. I attached a page of my notes from my study this week.
Another thing I loved from my Inklings podcast this week was they were talking about the story of Jesus and the Samaritan woman at the well. How he purposely went there, when most Jews would take a really long route to avoid the Samaritans. And when he stopped to talk to her, He talked to her about her sin openly. He was curious about her life. He did that a lot in His ministry. He wanted to really know people as individuals. One of the Inklings comments that I loved was "I love how curious Jesus is." I think it's good for us to take his example. Really be curious about people we meet, get to know them, ask them questions. And then find where we are able to help.
I hope some of the stuff I study can help you in your missionary work sometimes. It's fun to think that we can study together even though we are across the country from each other. Let me know what you think of the stuff I've been studying this week and if any of it sticks out to you. Been thinking about you a lot and praying for you all the time. I sure love you. I hope it's been a good week.
Love you lots!
Mom
